Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome! TRMT and FWDC are collaborating once again to bring you an all-singing, all-dancing musical theatre-style cabaret extravaganza! Join us as we celebrate the art of burlesque with the most captivating songs of the stage and screen. Burlesque gained popularity in 19th-century Victorian England as theatrical performances that parodied serious works like Shakespeare plays and operas with comedic and risqué humor. This art form evolved over time, influenced by notable choreographers like Bob Fosse who brought a stylized, provocative edge to dance that echoed burlesque’s playful, suggestive origins. Today, burlesque is a vibrant blend of classic tradition and contemporary flair; embracing humor, dance, storytelling, and personal expression. Hey big spender, what are you waiting for? VIDEO SUBMISSIONS
Please prepare one (1) 60-90 second selection appropriate for the theme. Please use an accompaniment track (plenty on YouTube) or piano accompaniment for your audition. Please email a video file or YouTube/Vimeo link to trmttreasurer@gmail.com by midnight on Friday, December 20th.
